Board Meeting of the Community Club of Brookside

Jan. 12, 2004

Denis Menton called the meeting to order at 7:40 at the Community Club.  In attendance were Sandy Almassy, Irene Daley, Jesse Smith, Denis Menton, and Howard Helms

Denis reported that the Club didn’t host a New Years Eve party.  Also, the Rental committee’s meeting was cancelled.

Denis also reported that the deck was finished.  The back porch was replaced, also.  Our expenditures of the total cost to date are $22,000, with the final value expected to be $25,000.  Wayne Tremper and Tom Montgomery were the carpenters.  Paul Hogan put in pavers for the sidewalks around the new deck and back porch.

Irene Daley says that the mantel shouldn’t be replaced because it has historical value, since its beams were in the Club’s roof before its fire 60 years ago.

Jesse Smith reported that a new return duct was added with registers on each side of the door.  This rid the furnace of a clunking sound and produced more heat while keeping the furnace cooler.  We’ll see how the furnace behaves for the rest of the heating season before deciding whether to replace the furnace.

A new Christmas plastic tree was given to us.  The tree stunningly resembles a beautiful, natural tree.

Howard Helms reported that a junior (Tom MacWright) at Mendham High School was hired by Carole to add a calendar-based reservation system to the Club’s website (www.brooksideclub.org).  The website will be hosted by www.pair.com for $15/month.  The student is working to install the links to make the website work successfully on its new host.

We adjourned at 8:18 pm, a new record.

The next meeting will be held at 7:30 pm on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at the Community Club.

Respectfully submitted,

Howard Helms, Secretary, Jan. 12, ‘04
