Board Meeting of the Community Club of Brookside – Feb. 9, 2004

In attendance: Joy Barrett, Carol Leone, Diane Tolley, Marybeth Thomas, Fran Plodkowski, Irene Daley, Jesse Smith, Carole Slavin, Denis & Lynda Menton, Sandy Almassey, and Howard Helms.

Denis called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.

President’s Report: Denis said that the insurance company told us that they would now be willing to insure officers for liability.  It was agreed to purchase this insurance.

Denis also reported that the County Elections Dept. had decided that the Community Club would be unsatisfactory for holding elections because it lacked a paved parking lot with lines painted on.  It is unclear whether the Township will pay the other half of the money they promised for the deck and ramp.

Treasurer’s Report:  We have more than $50K in cash currently.  Attached are expenditure details.

Buildings & Grounds:  Jessie reported that our tenant is becoming closer to being current in his rental payments.

Rentals:  Carole Leone reported that we had a scheduling conflict last week.  

She has drafted changes to the contract, including adding the house rules to it.

Noting that none of the businesses who rent the club are members, we voted to impose a $100 annual rental-registration fee on businesses. (Besides becoming eligible to rent our facility, businesses will receive a free listing in our website.)  Also, Denis signed a letter informing business renters that their hourly rental will be increased to the pre-9/11 rate of $25/hr.  Other changes to the contract were made during the meeting.

A new case of fluorescent bulbs (SPEC 35, a.k.a. T35) was purchased for replacement of ceiling lightbulbs as they burn out.  This type of bulb gives “creamy” light.

Social: Lynda reported that the Easter egg hunt will be held on Saturday, April 10^th.
