Meeting of the Executive
Committee of the Community Club of Brookside – March 11, 2002
Attendees: Sara Czarecki, Fran Plodkowski, Roland George, Jesse Smith, Irene Daley, MaryBeth Thomas, Howard Helms, Tracy Morrison, Pat Zimmerman
Call to order: MaryBeth Thomas called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM in the Community Club. The minutes were approved as sent previously.
Treasurer’s Report: Roland George submitted the attached report.
Buildings and Grounds: Jesse Smith reported that John McFadden and Denis Menton had looked at our rental property, but we had not heard their conclusion.
Jesse will investigate purchasing white plastic chairs that are as easy to stack as the present blue chairs but have a more comfortable back-angle.
Jesse will measure the piano base and send the results with a tax form to Howard, who will purchase a frame so that the piano can be pushed around more easily.
Rentals: Tracey reported that the rental business is booming. The Rental Committee, who will report the results of their review at the next meeting, will review the proposed increase in the rental rates. If a rate increase is approved at the next meeting, it will be posted on the Website immediately afterwards.
Social: The Easter Egg hunt will be held on Saturday, March 30, at 10:30 AM.
The Frosty Fourth party was a success.
For the Easter Egg hunt, MaryBeth will hold an egg-coloring party. Fran Plodkowski and others will bake pictures. MaryBeth will make flyers for distribution in the school. MaryBeth’s kids will take pictures.
Membership: Sara will send out another Newsletter. Please send inputs to her. Howard will update the membership form on the website.
Pat Zimmerman hopes that the Community Club will sponsor bridge nights. The Newsletter and website will ask for expressions of interest.
Pat also wonders if we couldn’t sponsor a square dance night twice a year. We will reserve dates here and will ask for expressions of interest via the Newsletter and the Web.
Buzz Thomas will look into whether the Shakespeare play should be held in the school auditorium instead of the Community Club.
The Website could be augmented in two ways which will be publicized in the Newsletter:
To accomplish 1. and 2., Howard will loan a PC to Tracey Morrison.
Next Meeting: 7:30 PM on April 8, 2002, in the Community Club.
