Meeting of Executive Committee of the Community Club – May 12, 2003

Attendees: Cindy Slate, Joy Barrett, Sandy Almassy, Carole Slavin, Jesse Smith, Denis & Lynda Menton, and Howard Helms

The meeting was called to order by Denis Menton at 7:30 pm.  Cindy Slate read the minutes of the April 14, 2003 meeting.  The minutes were approved as corrected.

Ramp: The Twp. Committee agreed to give the Community Club $3500 to install a ramp so that the club could be used for public voting.  Denis showed us sketches for a deck integrated with a ramp.  He will hold further discussions, starting with our neighbor Mervin Kelly.

Dues Mailing:  The dues mailing was sent out by Hawks Graphics.  Howard will give Lynda a set of mailing labels from which to send dues notices to patrons who were not on the Township mailing list generated from the tax rolls.

Treasurer’s Report: Carole Slavin gave the attached Treasurer’s report.  In addition, the Club has a CD for $26,197.

Building & Grounds:  Jesse Smith reported that shrubbery on the west side of the club is being eaten by deer.  We voted to spend up to $3K for deer-proof replacements.  Jesse Smith will consult Chris West, and Lynda will ask a neighbor for suggestions.  Joy Barrett can purchase shrubs at cost.  The Twp. Road Department will plant the shrubs.

The repair project for Patriots Path is still likely to be undertaken by Boy Scouts.  Railroad ties can be taken from the border at the back of the grassed area of Kathleen & Michael Holmes’ house (aka Snake House/Apgar House).  Sam Fairchild will communicate with Howard about this.

Website:  As a result of being moved to www.verizon.net, the website no longer can record its number of hits.  While it was still on att.net, it was receiving. 1-2 hits per day.

Howard will try to include a calendar of rentals that Tracy Morrison can upload herself.

Lynda gave Howard 4th of July material to scan into the website.

Next Meeting:  It will be held as usual on Monday, June 9, 2003, at 7:30 pm in the Community Club.  The main topic is expected to be planning for the 4th of July celebration.

Respectfully submitted,

Howard Helms, Secy., 5/13/03
