BROOKSIDE COMMUNITY CLUB EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE MEETING – 5/14/01
Attendees: Denis
& Lynda Menton, Howard Helms, Sandy Almassy, Sara Czarecki, Jesse Smith,
Betty Conable, Fran Plodkowski, Tracey Morrison, Joyce Barrett, Cindy Slate,
Alex Slavin, Evan Thomas, Carol Leone, Diane Dinklage, Maribeth Thomas, Lizz
Bridge, Irene Pagano, Roland George, Carole Slavin, and Connie Bartees.
The meeting was
called to order by Denis Menton at 7:30PM.
The minutes were approved after their reading.
Roland George gave
the Treasurer’s Report, which is attached. The Secretary will write thank you letters to the Brookside
Women’s Club and to Nabisco, c/o Daryl Brewster, for their donations of $300
and $750, respectively.
Jesse Smith gave the Building
and Grounds report, which is attached.
Sara Czarecki plans to mail another newsletter in
October.
Sara suggested that we encourage children to plant an herb garden next to the Community Club, e.g. in a raised garden in a sunny spot behind the kitchen. It was stated (or was it an article of faith?) that deer do not eat herbs.
Evan Thomas reported
that the Shakespeare festival was not as well attended as last year
because of school vacation. (Attendance was 30 persons.) Evan Thomas suggested that we try to change
the venue to the Middle School when school is in session.
Social and Fund
Raising: The Easter Egg hunt was a
success. In a bunny suit, Jesse Smith
played the Easter Bunny. The Club made
$100 on this event.
The Christmas tree
trimming party will be held on Dec. 9.
Rentals:
Betty Conable said that we are booked up for June this year, and she has
5 reservations for next year. There is
a new morning aerobics class.
To discourage overly
heavy use of the Club, Jesse Smith suggested that we raise the rental rate to
nonmembers. Betty will hold a meeting
of the Rental Committee to plan rental rates for next year.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM (the shortest meeting
on record). Afterwards, a meeting of
the 4th of July Parade committee was convened by Lynda Menton and
Connie Bartees.
Next Meeting:
It will be held at the Community Club on 7:30 PM on Monday, June 11,
2001.
Respectfully Submitted by Howard Helms, May
