BROOKSIDE COMMUNITY CLUB EXECUTIVE
COMMITTEE MEETING – 8/14/00
Attendees: Roland
George, Fran Plodkowski, Lynda Menton, Denis Menton, Cindy Slate, Sandy
Almassy, Sara Czarecki, Diane Tolley, Jim O’Neil, Betty Conable, Joy Barrett,
Diane Tolley, Howard Helms
The meeting was
called to order by the President, Denis Menton at 7:30PM.
Howard
Helms read the minutes, which were approved with the correction that Jim
O'Neill has been proposed to organize an Oktoberfest. Also, Connie Bardes was the 4th of July Parade
Chair.
Treasurer’s Report:
Roland George stated that income was $5,424.39, expenses $14,228.77, for
a net loss of $8,804.38. Our assets as
of 8/12/00 are $12,943.67 and a C.D. for $36,346.56, for a total of
$49,290.23. This report does not
include 4th of July results.
Details of income and expenses may be seen in the journals which Roland
brings to each meeting.
We would have $2000 more if we were not having a problem
with our tenant in the house.
Rentals: Betty says that there have been
many calls for reservations. Sept.
through December are full (Fris.,
Sats., and Suns. are taken during those months). Aerobics are Monday and Thursday. Betty raised their rates to $25. Six weddings have reserved the Club for year
2001.
A ballroom dance program will start this fall and will last
through December. This will last one
hour initially.
The rug people have asked for another booking this year.
Building and Grounds:
Diane Tolley will look into buying replacements for our
folding chairs. The goal is to find
more comfortable and sturdy chairs that are small enough to be stacked on
rollable racks in the closet.
The last two weeks are open in August for refinishing the
floor. The cost of replacing the floor
is about $20,000. Jesse Smith is
looking into getting the floor refinished without replacing it this year.
Social & Fundraising: Lynda Menton said that the 4th of July Parade went well. Jim O'Neill was thanked for organizing the
Vets.
Joy Barrett has not yet closed the books for the 4th
of July because not all of the bills have come in yet.
It is too late to organize an Oktoberfest.
Someone needs to volunteer to organize the New Year’s Eve
party.
Fran Plodkowski is organizing a
Community Club Holiday Boutique for all day on November
18. We need a committee to organize
this. Diane Tolley will organize food
sales for it.
For the next 4th of July parade, we will have to tap into
our treasury. Diane Tolley will make
an 8” by 10” copy of the Vets group pictures for each of the Vets who appeared.
Membership:
Sandy Almassy will have Hawk Graphics print sets of postcards, to
announce that dues are to be paid, another to announce that "your dues are
past due", and yet another that says "Please come to our next
meeting."
The website and Newsletter will contain a dues reminder for
those who haven't paid yet.
Sandy will convene a membership subcommittee meeting. Joy Barrett agreed to attend.
Next Meeting:
It will be held at the Community Club on 7:30 PM on Monday,
August 14, 2000.
This meeting was
adjourned at 9 PM.
Respectfully
Submitted,
Howard Helms
