Annual Membership Meeting of the Community Club of Brookside

Attendees: Fran Plodkowski, Diane Tolley, Joy Barrett, Jesse Smith, Irene Daley, Denis Menton, Cindy Slate, and Howard Helms

Call to Order: Denis called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm in the McKinnell Center (since the Club had been rented that night). The minutes were approved as read by Howard.

Treasurer’s report: We have $24.2K in our checking account and a CD for $20K; our total liquid assets are about $60K.

President’s Report: Denis reported that we have received $2K from the insurance co., with an additional $1K in the mail.

We have more cash than the Green Acres people like ($50K).

The furnace is on the fritz and Hobbey Co. has been unable to figure out why. We voted to authorize Jesse will look for another company, either to fix the furnace or to replace it.

Installation of the new deck and ramp is proceeding well. We agreed that gray Timber-Tech plastic planks will be used instead of cedar on the new deck. We voted an additional $5K for plastic for the decking and the railing. Denis will talk with the fabricator (Tom).

Denis will get a BJ Mastercard card in Cindy’s, Jesse’s, and Denis names.

Building and Grounds: Jesse will ask Tom about replacing the stairs and landing behind the kitchen after he finishes installing the deck and ramp.

We might ask Tom to put up a mantle that Jesse might locate in town.

We need to decide what plantings will be put around the deck.

Boutique: Fran needs four tables from the firehouse for the Boutique.

Tables: We voted to purchase light-weight 4’ x 8’ tables from BJ.

Rentals: Howard described Carole Leone’s success in locating a capable high school student (Tom McWright) to revamp the website to include a rental reservation capability. Although Howard had some reservations initially, those may have been dispelled by changes made by Tom to make the website easier for an amateur to maintain.

Election of Officers: The slate of officers and member-at-large were approved as nominated at the October meeting.
