Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Community Club of Brookside – May 13, 2002

Attendees:  Gary Carbonello, Sara Czarecki, Jesse Smith, Fran Plodkowski, Irene Daley, Cindy Slate, Lynda & Denis Menton, Howard Helms, Sandy Almassy

Call to order:  The meeting was convened by Denis Menton at 7:30 PM at the Community Club of Brookside.

President’s Report: Denis had asked the Twp. Committee for an appropriation of $7500 to build a handicapped-persons access ramp so that the voting machines could be placed in the Community Club.  Unfortunately, the Twp. budgeted only $3500.  Since this is less than we asked, we will not proceed except to investigate the possibility of obtaining bids closer to $3500.

Buildings & Grounds:  Jesse reported that the following new rental rates were adopted by the Rental Committee.

Members

Non-members

Friday

$150

$300

Saturday

225

450

Sunday

150

300

Mon-Thurs.

25/hour

50/hour

Weddings

300

600

These rates will be posted on the website.  Old contracts will be honored at the current price regardless of date.  New contracts signed for dates after Dec. 31 will be at the new rates.

The rental property’s foundation has been repaired, and the water heater has been replaced.  These repairs were treated as in-kind rental payments that cancel the back-rent owed.

At a cost of $30 per chair, we made a seat-of-the-pants decision and voted to replace all of the existing chairs with new ones that have more comfortable backs.

Since the flagpole snapped in a high wind, we voted to replace it, possibly with a white fiberglass pole.

Jesse will write a letter of thanks to the Twp. for providing mulch and lawn service.

Membership:  Sara reported that the newsletter is almost ready to be sent to the printer.

Website:  The form for ordering the Community Club tee shirt will be put on our website, which will also contain the contribution form for the 4th of July parade.  Howard reported that the website is receiving 2 hits per day, lately.

4th of July:  Lynda reported that the letters asking for support are nearly ready for mailing to businesses and townspeople.

Next meeting:  It will be held on June 10, 2002 at the Community Club.

Respectfully submitted,

Howard Helms, Secretary
